Okay I work at Walmart in TLE Tire and lube express. And almost everybody there drives a Honda. They got their little honda car club crew. Always talking about honda this and honda that. Well I told some of them about my rebuild and about the Quad 4. They had no idea what a Quad was. Well one of them is rebuilding his hatch and boosting it. I told him Im rebuilding my Quad and boosting too. He ask me about how much will it push when im done, I said not sure but I think roughly 300 or more. He smiled and said hes going to push 600 to the wheels not the flywhee!!! Hes a cool friend but not sure if thats possible without nitrous and a REAL GOOD tune. Well my other friend with a 93 hatchy said hell win cause my alero weights too much. I ask my friend how much does your hatchy weight and he said about 1,500lbs. So now I worried so im going to now gut the interior. the back seat, carpet, and the truck carpet and spare. He wants to race when we are both done and get at least 5000 miles on the engine. What can I do to make sure I'll win unless I dont have to worry.

VTECH makes baby toys. VTEC is variable valve timing in Hondas.

Oh, also, everyone says they're "going to push ___HP", but lets just see what happens when the time comes.

600 hp in a honda is serious modding. It all depens which kind of engine he's getting. OH and by the way, a hatch is far for weighting 1500 lbs. A CRX (smaller kind of civic) is rathed at 2174 lbs. I would guess a hatch is roughly near that number (considering its a 92-95).

Also, if its a bigger engine than the stock 1.5L (I suppose it is because boosting the 1.5 and wanting to get 600 hp on the wheels is too much), it's going to be heavier. So unless he has stripped everything on the car and has an entire carbon fiber body, he's not going to weight 1500 lbs. Still the Alero is far from that at 3000 lbs lol.

I think any power can be acheaved with some money, but I sure think that you'll have some pleasant time cruisin around with twice the power I have in mine.

If I remeber corretly he said hes running a LS Block bored out to 2.something and an vtech head. Eagle rods and dont remember the pistons name.

i dont see any new thread button

Just pick a topic in the main page like go the alero appereance or 2.4 engine questions then click on one of them. You'll then see a list of threads in that given topic. At the very top there will be an icon that says new thread click it then go from there. Now pray for my rebuild 2.4:p

Vtech makes cordless phones too... I have one and it works really good...

Oh, and VTEC is: Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control System

or short Variable Timing Electronic Control.

No dustin he is not using weisco pistons. I told him I will be using weisco pistons. After im done with my rebuilt OLDS HO, I want a to buy a 2.3 HO engine, any ideas of where I can get one from.

after having been heavily involved in researching for my mustang...ive found some rather interesting things bout all cars in general....and that 600hp is no longer a "mystical" power range, but rather a common power range for a lot of cars...it takes a lot more to build a 4 cylinder up to 600hp than a v8, but amazingly its not that hard, and civics have no problem finding a good tune for a good price, since the market is HUGE...

theres no telling what he can run if he does the b18 or b22 swap on the civic with a turbo. still though, its a civic and we all frown on them these days

well once I get my dam engine out of the bay and tear it down to the block I'll begin asking questions about what the best way is the rebuild the ho

The engine out of a LS is probly a B18 that has around 140 hp stock and those engines needs to rev, and also have no torque. The power potential is huge, but Ive seen a lot of kick ass B18 build and they were producing around 350-400 hp. It is possible to reach 600 hp, but it cost money. Sry to say that but I don't really think a Walmart salary alone could pay for this.

^i think most of the smart civic owners swap the b22, but either way you are right, they are still very low hp #s with no torque...

i got into a huge argument last night at work with a retard who says horsepower wins races, i was like no, torque is what wins races more than anything else because its what launches you off the line if racing from a dig...racing from a roll then horsepower is the key

Exactly, i work at a chinese resteraunt, so imagine the crap i get. They probably have a GSR motor or some crap like that, i dont knw if thats a b18 or not but non-the-less it does not have any torque. I also know a guy from work with a Del Sol with an LS motor in it and its nothing to be proud of either.

Actually, its not a b22, its a H22 mostly from a prelude. The problem with the 2.2L is that if you swap it in a civic, its only good for drag racing because doing so, you totally screw the weight ratio of the car. Engine is too heavy and you get some insane understeer.

The GSR engine is a tweaked 1.8L that gains 30 hp over the LS b18. And the type-R B18 is just further to 190 hp but at a stupid 120-130 lbs torque

You could always swap your engine for a new 3.5 caddy engine and boost it and it even has variable valve timing too

Domestics started doing the VVT on there engine now to stay in the race.

Cool to hear so thats kinda like our engines, Stock LD9 rated at what 150 so its like a stock B18 and the type r at 190hp is like our W41.

yes, but the difference is that where the stock B18 makes a poor 125 lbs of torque, the quad makes 150 and the W41 makes 160 instead of 130. STILL, weight just kills the Quad. 800-1000 lbs is a shit load of weight difference. Stock vs stock, a Civic Si hatchback (1992-1995) will get in front of the Alero with a Quad.
