Stupid Fuel Filter

Ok. I know there are some other posts related to this but I just cannot for the life of me figure out how to get the quick connect fitting disconnected. I bought the little tool for about 6 bucks, but I have two problems. When pulling away the green clips, I don't see what to depress to get the thing to release, also do you need to get a low profile tool? I can't seem to get enough clearance between the fitting and the filter? Id really like to do this myself, it looks easy enough and I don't feel like paying 71 bucks(conrads) to have someone else do this.

When I changed my filter that green clip had to come all the way off. I don't remember exactly but I think you just push one side in then out.

yeah I had problems taking mine off, I even had a friend help and we couldnt get the dam thing off. The dam quick disconnect tool wouldnt fit between the the line and the filter. So best thing is get a plastic quick disconnect tool so you can bend it so it can squezze in there. The dam haynes manual shows the filter with white tabs that you just press and release but my filter didnt have that. Good luck

I just changed mine last week, it was pretty easy I thought. Only problem is that I can't really figure out how to put it into words to explain it.

Alright, I hope that kind of helps. Once you get the clip open, take that flathead and then push The green clip away from the fuel line (push on the green clip at the top points of the U it makes when it's open), I found that it's not necessary to take it all the way off, just remove it enough so you can take out the old fuel filter. Be careful though, do not break the side where it's connected to the flap that snaps in, if you do that you're screwed.

i changed my fuel filter once... i just took it to my dads mechanic

most of the goons around here won't put in my part(fram brand new in package) they want to put in their own and charge me 30 bucks for a 10 dollar filter. Plust 45 in labor. My buddy has a Grand am, so if i can figure it out I can make some $$ off him. I solved the hesitation I was having by two bottles of fuel system cleaner(probably a gunked injector) so I am ok for now, but I have about 57k, and want it changed before 60k.
