View Full Version : Alero GLS V.S. Grand Am body Kit?
Well I have been looking at some bodykits for the Aleros....not many options out there. I am just curious if i were to get a Grand Am body kit if there would be alot of modifications to be made. If there is extensive work i would rather not do it, but if its not all that bad then i may take the plunge and do soemthing different. If anyone knows about this, can u please let me know it would be very helpful :D

Well, the bodies of the two cars are completely different, so I would have to say there would be some huge modifications to be made, if it was possible at all.
Hell, I can't seem to get an ALERO body kit to fit on an Alero.

LOL. Thanks for the input.

Are you thinking about putting the RKsport kit on?
I thought about it too...shoot I even photoshopped it (if I can find the pics I'll post)
It was a dream but I know that there will be fitment plus trimming and filling issues. But I say get the balls that I never got and do it.
This all assuming you are thinking of the RKsport kit
Otherwise, what are you crazy?
This is the kit i am talkin about....I think it is the same one as you are talkin about AGT.

Side skirts might fit, but I doubt it.
Front clip is totally different, rear end is totally different
Bottom line, won't work
Body kits are expensive enough, buy the right one ;)

if ur lookin for a grand am body kit why dont u just get a grand am IMO

If i wanted a grand am i would have gotten one. The point is being unique, and not having many kits to choose from for the Alero defeats that purpose. Like there is nothing wrong the kits available but if i can get a kit that fits close then i can modify the kit and have something really unique. I have modified kits before on freinds vehicles, but i just want some tips if anyone has done this before. I do work in a body shop and have all the tools and materials to do modifications, i jsut dont wanna spend my whole summer in the shop.
I see Xtrm's point well because the front end looks like a beamer with that body kit. GA headlights look like ass compared to the Alero. IMHO
Let the guy dream.

Yeah thats the one.
I can tell you some major fitment issues are the fenders and rear 1/4 panels on the alero have a flat lip that I do not see on the grand am.
The headlights of course will be covered up in the front center where our highbeams are if you somehow get the front bumber on.
Then there are the tails. It would be a sweet clean alero. but you have to have the discipline and focus to work with cutting and filling that kit.

^^ Good point.
Figure a bodykit, if you buy the Alero one will be a ton of money
Bodykit : $650 to $750 avg
Shipping: $100 to $200
Paint : $750 to $1000
Molding and fitment: $250 to $500 or more
So your talking about $2500 or so for a bodykit. I have about $3500 to $4000 into the motor. $2500 is a good start on engine mods.
Do this instead
Rims and tires : about $1000
Exhasut : about $250 to $300
Intake : about $100 to $200 or less
There are other things to do, but which way do you wanna go. It seems like you really want a Grand Am bodykit on the Alero. Can it be done, sure, will it cost big bucks, yes!

I say do it!!!! B/c that would be awesome to see.
Well i must thank everyone for their comments on the subject. I may take a much needed closer look at a grand am to see where the big differences are. And well sinking that money into the engine does sound good. But if i can get both done all the better :D

^ for a kit, without the tune, yeah, they are about that much. Custom plus tuning is probably closer to $4k

I wouldn't even try to fit that front on the Alero. The rest of the kit is more possible. The sides should fit no problem. Crazytaxi has grand am GT sides on his Alero ...
The "forbidden" front would look hot with the rest of that RKSport kit! especially the sides (i don't like the *** rocker moldings at all.)
The rear would need to be modified in the areas around the taillights and deck lid. I wouldn't think it would be that difficult for a skilled body man. (where's ppgnut?, oh yeah, on a forum vacation)
