recently it seems as if my tranny is messed up. if im at a lite and i gun it. i hit 6500 to 7000 RPM befor it finally shifts. is this right? also its as if it kicks into gear...hard to explain but for the most part that shift point is concerning me...i dont have any tranny lights or check lights on...just seems differant.

Maybe not.

My friend is having the same problem with his Chevy truck right now. He thinks the header burned thru some wires

i think it is like 6,700RPM before the rev limiter kicks in, i normally let it rev right up to 6,500 before shifting. So yea, your fine. its a 4 banger, they love the high revs.

When you're at WOT, it's supposed to shift at redline, which is 6500 rpm for 2.4's and Eco's. It only shifts long before that when you're just cruising. Shift points all depend on how much throttle you give it. The further you push the pedal the later it's going to shift. What you're describing is completely normal.
