Over the next few months I plan on getting a quad, but i am going to need a way to haul it around.
So what I was thinking on doing is gearing up some kind of removable trailer hitch, something I could gear up so that the whole hitch can come off and on.
any one ever see anything like that before, or get any ideas?
depending on how the hitch bolts up to the car, i was thinking of just welding some bolts to where it would bolt up to, and then gearing something up like a ball joint, with a locking nut and cotter pin.

What are you going to weld it to, the rear bumper support?

well I did a little searching myself, and found this:

Looking at that it looks like it might be do-able, pain in the ass, but do-able.

Well there you go. It says install is 45 minutes. Shouldn't be too bad.

Mine looks like the first one... it took more than 45 minutes to install. You have to get the bolts up in the "frame" and line them all up. It was a pain in the ass. And we had it up on a hoist. It's definately doable, just not as easy as they make it sound.
Making it removable just sounds like a bad idea though. It's not that obvious and horrible looking. Besides, then you can get pulled out of a ditch and not get your bumper or tie-rods all screwed up.

well thanks for the input, Although I hope I never go in the ditch anyways. I think your right about the removable hitch, I'll just have to suck it up and deal with it or buy a truck.

As requested, that's what it looks like without the ball. You can see it, but if you aren't looking for it it's not that bad. Mine's all rusty now, so it looks kinda shitty. I don't even bother putting the little cap in it, but that does look better. I just don't like prying it out when I want to use it. :)

No prob. Just a word of warning though - they really mean 1,000lbs with the ecotec. I can pull close to 3,000lbs, but be careful with yours.
