i searched and read that the GA hoods will bolt up but the fitment is obviously off with the different lights etc. has anyone tried it tho?? making the ga hood fit the alero?? im interested in the ram air style hood they have. its close to the 70-72 w30 hood and wanted to add that to the alero.

maybe the easiest would to just take the center section out and replace the alero center.

Any hood would fit, it just depends on how much money you're willing to throw at it.

think about it dude..........

since the lights are different you have to change the lights/header panel/fenders/bumper/etc........ basically you have to put a GA front clip on the alero to make it work.

i want a 70-72 ram air style hood on my car too. not gonna happen bro sorry

i dont see how you can truly have "ram air" with a transverse motor

Why can't the hood be modified to fit the front end? I've thought about doing it myself, those hoods are nice.

thats why i stated about just taking the important stuff and then welding and molding it onto the alero. just replace the center section

Go for it.I was thinking of taking my hood to get a scoop cut into it as Im not a body man.I was thinking of an offset scoop that would be directly above the airbox/or CAI.GA hoods are nice but Id preffer something a bit different, but Id say Let er Buck if you do it.I think youre on the right track with taking out the center of the GA and puttin in yours.Just my opinion.

^^^Those scoops suck. I don't know about you guys but what I would be willing to spend on a 2 door modded Alero is nothing compared to what I have spent on my '71 already and it's not done yet. I'm willing to spend the money on a hood mod of that magnitude.

I think I am set on most parts for now except fot the gear selector for the dualgate shifter, but ya never know. It is nearing a slow completion.
They are black / chrome and I have no use for them since I have Ram Air.

Here is a pics, if ya want them, PM your address etc and when you see what the shipping cost me just send me a check for that amount only, the louvres are on the house to a good home that will appreciate them. I'm all about preserving as many Olds as possible.

no you really cant, you would have to rig up a box and all that stuff. its possible because of where the tb is on some but not real practical

for a "bolt on" look all ya need are the headlights front bumper , and headlight mount panle everything else stays the same
from a custom aspect, sure why not pay someone to modify the hood, that would be more original then a bolt front end

The fenders are different too on a GA.

if you want a ram air style hood that is like the W-25 hood. find a good custom shop and have them make and mold the scoops onto a stock alero hood.

sounds like too much work for a h ood thats not "functional"

if you put that much work into a hood you have it made functional

PPGNUT: How many man hours do you think it would take to customize a W-25 Ram Air Hoor that is functional, or take a GA hood and modify it to fit an Alero? If one could find an older damaged W-25 hood and cut out the scoop area and fit it into place is that possible?

I've seen some pics of where people who're good with bodywork make these custom hoods and such. It's quite the process, bt when they're done, if they did it good, it's amazing!
I really would like to see someone try the type of hood you're talking about, it sounds nice.

yup i forgot the fenders too
anything is possiable, iam guessing around 3 weeks to do what ya want maybe longer, just keep in mind it`s just metal and metal can be shaped any way i want it to go
but it can be done

im not worried about the body work on it. i have a very very good guy that can do it. its just what scoops and or hood to use for hte scoops. i just choose the ga because it looks similar to the w25. the scoops themselves look close and proportional to the car. i really think about doing it. any other scoops that would look better?? people can chime in and let me know their opinions.
