kinda pissed but i guess its good considering the issues with my car. my best run (ran it twice) was my second qualifying run for street stock (i didnt qualify) which was 15.1xx at 91.xxmph. once i get my exhaust fixed i should do muuuuuuch better. im hoping to fix it this week and then back to the track next weekend.

not with a clogged cat and a bad o2. i have been told that its robbing 10% or more of my power.

here's the run down on my slip. my scanner is broke and my digi cam sucks at closeups. it was a pro tree and remember, this was my first time at the track and my second pass. my first pass i cut a .676 light.

Not sure of your mods, but it seems like you should be faster. And to think that one guy on here with his 2dr Ecotec w/5spd ran a 15.1 with CAI and exhaust, OUCH!!!! That clogged cat is robbing some power, I know when I had my exhaust unbolted during my exhaust swap and I drove around, I guarantee my power dropped. It was laggin bad...

15.2, my bad, LOL. Those heavy rims are slowing you down as well, I didnt realize your rims weighed that much, definately get some lighter ones or switch back to stock. Good luck with getting everything fixed.

thanks, and no i have touched it. its pointless because not only is my exhaust problem restricting power but its messing with my AFR and other computer stuff as well.

lol i took that out before i had everything installed because i needed the trunk space for all of the parts. the amps are still in there though. i also had my spare tire and jack. the jack came in handy too, a bunch of us met up at the local mall to drive over to the track and this one integra bottomed out and knocked his exhaust off LMFAO one guy loaned his jack but the car moved and slid off the jack nearly crushing the dude under the rear tire but he got out just in time, it was freakin close. so then i loaned him mine and he got it back together. it was pretty funny when it happened though.

you can get lighter wheels that look better, besides, just the fact that they are 18s will slow you down, i guarantee you could get at least one tenth in the 1/4 with 17s that weigh the same as those 18s.......just read up on rotating mass.......

yeah, you definitely gotta get that cat/O2/exh fixed bro. I ran a 15.1 with a non-operational turbo (flow restriction) at 3,000 ft. plus. I think that you're engine pooper is choking you out. Plus, I dont think you're dialed in nearly close on tune. What's your C/R again?

close to stock maybe slightly higher, the mechanic said its probably 9.6:1. the pistons werent what i thought they were going to be. the machinist cc'd one of each and the new ones had a slightly smaller dish but it wasnt much.

yea i know. i plan on doing a scan tonight when i get off work. i truely am not confident in the tune that guy gave me. i just wish i knew more about tuning. i must be dense when it comes down to it because i read and read and read but then i go to do it and im like wtf do i do now :banghead:
BlackJack
11-06-2006, 05:58 PM
heh, dont feel alone.....I did so much reading I thought my head would explode, and I still felt like I didn't know what to do (at first). germ at DPP helped me figure out the complex stuff, and that was a big help.
If you prefer to take this to IM, let me know. I can basically tell you what is good to scan for (more stuff than most people scan), and help you decipher it, then transfer it to a new tune.
jackal2000
11-06-2006, 06:19 PM
i'd rather keep this out in the open actually, so others can learn with me (granted this isnt a tuning forum). i usually scan the following:
KR, A/F, FT Cell, IAT, LTFT, STFT, MAF, MAP, MPH, RPM, Run Time, and Spark
but as far as IM what do you use? i have both AIM and yahoo...

I use trillian, so I'm on everything out there. YM, AIM, MSN, ICQ primarily.
and the reason I suggest IM is because it's quicker, and I dont have alot of patience playing the message game, and getting slowed down with questions by alot of people who neither have, nor have any intention of getting, a PowrTuner.
Oh yeah, and you need to add in O2 along with gear.

yea on my comp it says you posted at 1837. i thought pacific was 3 hours behind eastern time but then i remembered that AZ doesnt observe daylight savings right?
the good part is i have wireless web at home so i can be outside next to my car and chatting with ya.

its not. i need to fix my issues first lol
i think i am just going to replace the cat and o2 sensor and see how she does before i spend the money on new cat-back.
i assume that cats are basically all the same so i might get this one just because of price. comments?

no, they're not all basically the same. The one you're looking at has relatively high restriction due to the amount of material inside that it has to pass through in order to reduce emissions over a shorter distance. You'd be better off shelling a few bucks more for a Catco or Magnaflow, which is longer, and has less flow restriction.

the bad o2 alone could be 10%, the clogged cat is KILLING my motor. i barely got it home at dinner time. i have NO acceleration right now, mofo cant breathe. it will all be fixed on Tuesday morning though. after that will be some tuning sessions and weather permitting, i'll be at the race track on the 19th.
jackal2000
11-10-2006, 06:07 PM
bj, i received both cats today and side by side the cheaper one is longer (total length), the chambers seem to be the same size and when held each one up to a light source i can see more light thru the cheaper one. which one should i put on?? both are obdII approved of course.
BlackJack
11-10-2006, 07:35 PM
put your mouth over the end of them and blow really hard. Whichever one has the least resistance........
j/k man....seriously, the Magnaflow is supposed to be pretty damn good, but from what it SOUNDS like, the cheaper one MIGHT flow more.....now I can't vouch for the emissions capability though.
jackal2000
11-10-2006, 07:51 PM
the magnaflow does not have an o2 sensor port but the thunderbolt does. im not sure i understand the purpose the of the rear o2 anyways. all it does is make sure the cats working right? and i can pass emissions without that o2 sensor?
jabartram
11-10-2006, 08:19 PM
you will get constant ses light unless you install an O2 sim, or disable the 2nd o@ all together.
BlackJack
11-10-2006, 08:34 PM
meh, I'll put it this way, anytime you screw with the fuel/air/timing, you're gonna screw with emissions testing.
But if you're worried about it passing, I'd use the one with, and get either a O2 sim plug, or else hook up the actual one, and disable reporting in the computer.
jackal2000
11-10-2006, 08:37 PM
the magnaflow says right on the box "49 state obd2/exc california". i think i'll just use the magnaflow and disable the code. easy enough. besides, im living in VA but my car is still plated NC til next summer when it expires.
BlackJack
11-10-2006, 09:23 PM
good call, better safe than sorry.....would cost alot to switch everything back just to pass emissions.

11-14-2006, 01:49 PM
i dont feel like starting a new thread so i will update this one. i had the cat and o2 sensor replaced today. the stock cat didnt appear to be in too bad of shape to my dismay. at the very least i have eliminated 2 variables from the equation though. so far i dont feel much of a difference. its going to drive me crazy until the tune is up to par. when i get home tonight i will rescan for DTC and see if the 1133 is still showing up.....mtf

jackal2000
11-14-2006, 04:56 PM
not really. but the idle is still crazy when in its in gear sometimes. also, when i was driving it home the rpm would slightly spike for no reason. i wasnt accelerating, just cruising and it would jump up about 200rpm randomly. it sounded like i was jabbing at the throttle but i wasnt. i also think my car got louder post cat install. its really quite ridiculous lol

i called another retailer of my rims for a second opinion on the weight of them and this guy said 27.2lbs, which is more likely the correct weight just from looking at them and having held both a stock rim/tire and one of these in each hand. still too heavy though!! so i gotta sell em lol
