so i was gonna do the cavilier wai and the 3400 sfi alero cai combination but it seems like i might have gotten the wrong cavi wai for the job, so im just gonna use the wai for the winter. so neway i got it installed, and im wondering where to plug the little plug back into that was in the side of the intake tubing. theres a little rubber spacer thing but theres nothing inside, there was prongs in the stock one. what do i do with this plug. and what is it called? i just plugged it into the rubber thing. but as i was driving my engine light turned on. would this be because of this plug?

The plug is the AIT sensor and yes you need it. If you have no hole in the tube , then drill one yourself and use a rubber gourmet.

there is a hole in the tube and a rubber peice, it goes into the rubber pecie but it doesnt actually plug into anything. is it supposed to or does it just sense air or something?

The hole is for the Air Intake Temperature Sensor. If you have the 2.4 TC then you must have a AIT sensor. Check around I think you must have missed it when taking off your stock air box.

you are thinking of the engine vacuum tube, not needed, plug in the iat and throw the other tube away.

There are 2 holes in the stock intake tube. one is for the PCV valve and the otehr is the AIT sensor. The PCV tube is rubber and goes into or near the cover near the firewall. The other is the AIT which is connect to 2 wires. Failure to place this into the intake will cause hard start in cold weather.

looking at your last post it looks like you might have bought a basic air intake instead of a Short Ram. It was explained to me that this style of intake connects from the intake resonator box, and the longer Short Ram connects to the throttle Body. Alot of the short Rams sold on ebay are actually labeled as Cold Air units... confusing  ...but the Short Ram intakes that members have converted is actually a little longer than the unit you purchased. This is my best guess as too why the two intakes won't join up! Good luck
