Since I got rid of my 03 Alero with the Ecotec engine back in July of 05, I plan on gettin another Alero or Cavalier with an Ecotec next year, 2 door and 5spd of course. I have been on www.ecotecforum.com/forums for awhile now and was really leanin towards the Cavalier. Reason being is because the turbo and stuff fit the Cavalier directly, but need some fabrication if put in an Alero. I would rather have an Alero though, so I'm just asking you guys what you think about this. My plans are Patriot stage 2 heads, Comp stage 2 cams, 4-2-1 header, 62mm t/b, CAI, and header back exhaust (custom). I know these parts will fit the Alero, its just F/I that might need to be fabricated to fit under the hood of an Alero. A hooked up Cavalier is kinda common, its just the people that do mod them dont know how to hook them up the right way. Weight is kinda in favor of the Cavalier, being it weighs a few hundred pounds less than the Alero. I love the Alero look, and having a nice bolt on with headwork and cams would be nice and a sleeper. I need some opinions here guys on what car to get. Thanks

I forgot, I checked www.autotrader.com for 2dr Aleros with 5spds from 02-05 and there were only like 5 throughout the U.S. So that might also be a problem.

I would say go with an alero, because your right, there are a lot of cav's out there that have work done to them, and like u said people dont make good choices when fixing them up, and you probably would make more "tasteful" decisions, but the alero would be better. Because not many people do work to them, and if you really like the alero that much then you should do all that work to it and not worry about moving stuff around(i mean dont make a big deal over it, cause in the end it will turn out very nice).

I would say cav bc there aren't that many late model cavy's out there that are done up...and the aftermarket is alot bigger, plus might as well start out with a few hundred less pounds if you want to make it fast.

I was looking at cams and the jbp cams looked like the best...their stage 3's don't throw codes and have INSANE power increases

I understand what your saying about JBP cams, and the especially the Stage 3's, but I talk to this guy with a 12 second DD Cavailer with Ecotec, and he was saying how JBP's customer service isnt all that great, and how Comp Stage 2 cams will give great gains with no problems at all. And the Stage 3 cams will throw codes more likely. I know alot of guys on a few different forums that have done up an Ecotec Cavy, and they are very nice. I'll probably get the Cavy, unless there is an Alero near my area.

I can vouch that JBP's customer service really isn't too spectacular. It's kinda like Mantapart. I ordered a set of headers from JBP for the chevy in June and they're not here yet.

JUNE!!!!!, I'd be callin and wanting my money back. If its for your Beretta, I dont know what would be a better site. If you want things for the Alero, I would try www.gravanatuning.com or www.ryne.com/storefront

Well, they're custom made to order, and i knew it was going to be a long time. Not to mention there's nowhere else to get them.

Dunno, cav would probably be easier, but alero would def be more unique ;)

Its just the name of the 2.2 engine that comes in Aleros, Cavaliers, Sunfires, Malibus, and Grand Ams. Ecotec is like the GM version of Hondas Vtec, kinda sorta in a way, I guess.
