Specs:

Production Model_____________OSV Model

3.4L Engine - 170 HP__________3.5L Engine - 215 HP

Is it that simple? By stroking the engine .1 liter, it's possibe to get an extra 45 horses out our engines? Am i missing something

Supposedly the OSV engine was going to be DOHC unlike our single OHC. If the engine breathes better that helps out a lot on its own.

3.5l.DOHC..osv the same as the intrigue motor
our motor is an OHV

so the Intrigue engine is basically the OSV Alero engine?

im almost positive, but there were a few things different, and i dont remember what...final reality would know more...so would oldsman and a few others

I really have no clue dude :P

But 3.5L/DOHC/215HP? That's gotta be the 'Shortstar' found in the Intrigue and in some Aurora's too, I remember seeing a pic of the engine bay of that OSV too and it had the same engine cover, so what else could it be right?

Here is the definitive answer to your question... yes, it was the same 3.5L engine found in the Intrigue.....

GM 3.5L V6 DOHC Engine (LX5) (http://www.gm.com/automotive/gmpowertrain/engines/gmpow/lx5.htm)

all you osv wanna be's have to do is go get the 3.5 and drop it into your car and get the body kit from silent and ur set

Yup it's as simple as that. Drop it in. Literally. Just give it a good toss. And it'll run lickity-splits, no poop.

well remember thats what i am trying to do. It shouldnt be that hard if you have an intrigue your willing to sacrifice like me. That way i can get the tranny, wiring, motor pretty much everything you need. If you want to drop the 3.5 DOHC LX5 shortstar engine in it would be cheapest to try and find a totaled intrigue with one (as long as the drivetrain is sound) and then do the swap. I'm still saving up money to buy the odds and ends i need since i am saving the intrigue to put an aurora 32v dohc v8 in. I cant exactly just gut the poor car without making a lot of work for mysaelf later.

That's what i was thinking. Won't be completely OSV, but with bodykit, engine, find a way to centralize the exhaust, and slap on some OSV emblems and it'll be the closest thing to it

also just by adding better air filltration, and exhaust the 3.5 in the 2001 osv alero made 245 hp and 255 ft/bs. Imagine that much power N/A under the hood of an alero. What do you guys think the 3.5 osv runs to 60 and 1/4 mile? I'd guess 6.5ish and 15.0 respectivley. What do you guys think?

Well, from this webpage (http://www.pr.streetracing.org/whats_new.html#Oldsmobile), the Intrigue runs 7.7 0-60 and a 15.8 quarter. The Intrigue weighs in at 3434 lbs and the Alero at 3085 lbs (diff of 349 lbs). Anyone wanna give a guesstimate here?

I don't know... I guess if you got it, go for it. I'd definitely like to see it done and also see the pictures as you progress. As for your numbers, they don't look too far off from what I'd guess them to be around...

Myself, I'd rather be slapping a 3.8L 3800 SC Series II (L67) under the hood. It produces 240hp stock. There are more aftermarket parts for it than the 3.5L. It's well built and the bottom end has already been balanced for cramming more air into it. Change the SC pulley to up your PSI a bit (the stock components can take more), swap the exhaust and intake, and you're now close to 300hp.

Want more? Reprogram, port / polish... you're now at 300hp or just over. And there's still a LOT more you can do with the engine yet.

:P I'm getting all excited as I'm typing about this... better to to sleep now...

The 3.5 DOHC has been thoroughly balanced and blueprinted internally. With better breathing through intake modifications including K&N filtration and a full Borla exhaust system handling the spent gasses, the Alero OSV produces more than 245 horsepower.

I wanted a 3800 myself, but it may not fit and you would have to get new motor mounts and transmission.

if someone does it let me know, otherwise I may supercharge the 3.5.

^^Anything can be made to fit. Changing in a 3800 would require fabrication same as the 3.5, but probably not as much as the 3.5
