My headlight strobes stopped working almost completely over the course of about three days. First they started misfiring and wigwaging sort of, which they're not supposed to do. Next thing I know only one wire starts putting out current to one. What the heck would cause this? Could the capacitors be going dead/ gone dead?

Check your wiring. Is it hot where you live or are your wires exsposed to your engine bay? If so they may have melted or gotten damaged. I have never wired strobes before so I dont know the route of wiring.

Actually it's really cold right now (compared to summer) and it's been freezing nights lately.
Strobes have the usual + and - wire going into the control box, then mine have 2 separate wires coming out, each with 3 wires. One of the wires works and lights up the strobe it's plugged into, but the other doesn't. Inside the box there are two separate capacitors.
My the box that controls the strobes is sealed mostly water tight (I wouldn't wanna submerge it, but it has rubber boots for the wires going into it that seal pretty well), and resides right next to the air box in the engine, where it doesn't get very hot.

maybe to much energy went to the strobes and the lights blew ?
btw just throwing random scenarios at you that I can think of.

I know, and I appreciate it. The more ideas you throw out the more possibility that one might be the one I haven't thought of that works.
But that one ain't it, I hooked up each bulb separately to the strobe plug that still works (one still fires decently), and each one lit up separately.

I'll talk to a buddy of mine that runs the business Allmaxx911.us He does strobes and police lights, so if anyone that I know knows the answer to this question, it would be him. I'll call him tomorrow and see what could be the problem. I'll get back to you.

question, how much did the strobes cost and what company are they from?

i have strobes all over my car and i think it could be either a bad wire or the control box got condensation in it and shorted it out. it could also be a bad bulb.

They're cheap streetglow strobes (which could be half the problem), these: http://www.urban-neon-car-lights.com/store/product.php?productid=127&cat=51&page=1
$25.
Both bulbs still work. And water in the box is a godd possibility. Is there anything in there specifically that shorted out that I could solder a new one in for?
