well.. come to find out, BOTH sides of my front end, needed the bearings replaced...

i talked to the my mechanic (not really MY mech, but hes always the one to work on my car) and asked him what causes the bearings to wear out...besides the car being an alero. He said he thought it was his parts, so he tried a new company, with the same result.

Granted, i know the bearings on our cars suck balls. Its not that uncommon to have them go. But he said be expected to kill them every 12 months. at that rate, i gotta buy the tools to do this, cuz i'm not gonna drop $500 into having my bearing replaced every year.

What actually does cause bad wear/tear on the bearings and is there any place to get GOOD ones??

I did both my bearings last summer. The damn sensor went this spring. Now I got no abs till the bearing goes. All ya need for special tools is the big axle socket.

they said i had to pay more for the bearings, since i have the abs sensor....

....but my car doesn't have abs. which is total bullshit. why am i paying extra for something i don't have? i understand it has to be done sometimes.. but still. f* that.

but has anyone gotten some, from somewhere that lasted them more then a year, or two?? i'd like to get some bearings that might not be worth their weight in manure.

mine went shortly after i got my car sping of 05 (car is an 01). my car was still under warranty so it didn't cost a thing. i haven't had any problems since, and i drive my car alot. you shouldn't have to replace them every year, not unless you drive the shit out of your car.

Hey...I live in Buffalo (Sloan,Broadway & Harlem RD's) & buy My bearings from this place "below" if you want... You can drop down to My House & do them here as I have a fully equipped garage!
