er....yeah. The question isn't "How?" so much as "Why?". Something unique isn't that great of an idea unless it's perceived as cool looking. I think personally that it would look like a bastardization. Like they said, just trade it in for a GAGT and be done with it.

I think its a good idea. There isnt many body mods out there,so I gonna do something different. I am planing on going to paint by the end of the year. I can only imagine all the negative smack I will here at the meet in NJ next year.

I think I am gonna do it!! I have seen everything else (atleast all I wanna see for that matter). Yes it might be exspensive but not as exspensive as you may think. See I get a discount on parts because I work at a auto shop. So parts labor and most of the work I can do myself. I planning on everything fitted and going to paint by november or december.

I am going for a almost factory look (sorta). I am under the impression that the GA has the same body as the Alero. So most of the work will be the front headlight mounting,header panel and all of the hardware that goes upfront for the headlamps and front bumper mounting. The front fenders should sit in place perfectly. Not as bad as you are thinking. I dont wanna do a custom molded fabrication. This should be a all bolt on deal.
Not going for the drastic change. Just want GA lights up front and a Alero tails. Then it will be on to the Katskin or milzy. Either way its gonna be different!!

the grand am the alero and the malibu are the same car just different sheet metal
you will need the fenders, hood, head light mount panel, hood hinges, bumper, headlights, and hood latch, and hood hinges, and ya might need the fender liners as well
it will all bolt right up even with the doors iv`e done it at work

burg: it might cost the same amount to get aftermarket body panels (fenders, hood, bumper cover) as it would to get stock GAGT panels. Hell, the GA has carbon Fiber panels available for those particular parts (there is a GA guy on here with the CF front end...probably cheaper than getting stock panels and painting them)

I've thrown around the idea too, along with some others. I personally don't think it would look that great, but if you go through with it, I think you'd be the first one to actually do it.

On topic plz! LOL Conversions aren't rare. Back in 1998ish-2000, civics used to integra front ends. Before the trucks got popular with the caddy front ends. And around in 1999, Ford f150 conversion to lincoln navigator front ends were hot, now its F150 conversion to the new 05+ expedition front ends.

bad idea, do not get jap crap parts please don`t do that, the quality is not there the fitment is not there and the corrosion protection is not there as a OEM part is
all that is in reference to OEM panels
GAGT the sheet metal is the same as a SE GAGT with the exception of the bumpers the spoiler, and the body side moldings
here is my thought why not go to a junk yard and buy the whole front clip that way you wont even need to buy no clips and no extra parts

I didnt think I was gonna get it for free,but at the same time I was hoping for a front clip that was gonna be 8-900 bucks. 1500 is the price for the front clip. I would still have to pay for the color change,body kit! So really it would come up to around 5000 in body mods alone. To anyone thats kinda steep. I might see how much it woukd be for aftermarket parts,but it would probaly be the same price frickin around with shipping.

I still wanna do this mod,but i dont have 5000 just laying around. I still have a child and wife to take care of. why must I have the big ambitions?

heh, yeah....and it doesn't stop there. I first decided to turbo the car "cheaply" at around $1,700 and one thing led to another, upgrades, better heads, bigger intake path, etc. Next thing you know, now it's the transmission. So far I'm into my $1,700 turbo for around $3500, and still have another $3,000 or so to go. Modding aint cheap, whether appearance or performance.

hey...see if you can get pieces one at a time from the junk yard. like go different times of the week. you might be able to haggle the individual parts down easier than the whole front end. also, different junk yards to spread out your options...
