I just had my battery die on me today. I was looking for an Optima battery, but wanted to know if any fit the Alero or if anyone made one fit in their car. Otherwise what battery would be a good solution for Northeast driving conditions.

I just put in an Optima red-top and it was a perfect bolt-in fit for the original battery tray (though mine's going back in the trunk again when the headers get back).

Was the group size 75/35 for the battery?

Okay then, now I've got to check if my altenator needs to be replaced. I found out that my car was running solely on the battery, which means the altenator fried.

Does any one know what the estimate would be to replace the altenator?

^Check the 3400 Upgrades Page...160 Amp Alternator!!

I know your lazy like me so here: Alternator (http://www.mralternator.com/alternators/grandam.html) and you can even get it powdercoated for $25 (http://www.mralternator.com/powdercoating.html)

Or if you are just looking for a cheaper fix (stock - 105 Amp) go to Autozone (http://autozone.com/servlet/UiBroker?UseCase=C001&UserAction=performSearch&Parameters=Auto+Store%7C%7EREGULAR+PARTS+LOOK+UP%7 C%7EALTERNATOR), Checker's (http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductList.aspx?parttype=11&ptset=A), etc...

Hope this helps :P

Was looking for a average fix. Thanks. I'm just riding out the extended life of my car, which has been driven hard.,
