View Full Version : 3400 Engine Cover
figured i finally got a shot of it
Yes, still contemplating masking the letters and doing it a gloss black to match the rest of the car, but haven't had any time yet. It's not too shabby as grey for the moment, or at least i think so.
also a technical question for wiring gurus, this is from a 96 concorde. The keyless entry, locks, interiors, radio, mirrors, etc... stopped working one day
fuse 13 that controls them all and more is shorting out (blowing continuously in the off or on key position), anyone know how to track a short?
I'm just following wires still, almost back to the box
that wiring problem i've got

I think the cover looks awkward...... but whatever floats your boat... lol I had a problem with my wireing in my corolla.... my dash lights kept shorting... the only thing I can suggest is trying a bigger fuse....
yeah the cover is off one of the vans i believe

Looks MUCH better painted black doens't look very glossy in the pics though. And personally i would've masked off the individual letters.

it actually looks pretty good painted plack.
but I would have masked the letters off too!
yeah the letters didn't get done yet due to no masking tape in sight, electical taped off the section to lay the base coats, i put about 3 coats on no clear coat or anything just yet.
also had some rain coming so didn't have the time to completely finish it the job.
Probably finish this up on Friday if the weather prevails

its a good temp fix, but the short is still there... so you run the risk of completely depleting your battery, since power can just freely flow (continuously) from power to ground.... you certainly don't want to leave it that way.
the cover looks ALOT better painted... and i'm in agreement with everyone else, finish masking off each letter and it'll look really sweet.

Wow that looks good. I think I might have to pick one of them up at the Junkyard and mask up them letters.

i agree, the first pic looked pretty gay...painted up, not too shabby at all. i'll have to look around and see what i can find for one, see if i can't mask up the alero symbol up above the 3400

Quoted post
I think I would always paint it to match the exterior. I think it would look good painted white in a white car.
Brim-looks awesome! When I saw the first pic I was like, well it looks okay, but I don't think I would do it. Then I saw it black and was like DAMN!
Question-how'd it fit/attatch?
you have to order the oil cap extension, the cover after that should align pretty easily, the design on seemed to catch in some areas and it's pretty fits pretty good
i've since masked the letters and filled it in

i would have rubber texturized the cover, including the letters, then hand painted the letters with testors, whatever color you wanted.
but it looks good though.
its funny how cars with covers (i.e, my vw) people take the covers off and trash them, but cars without covers, people search for something to cover it up :P
in my opinion, it looks kind of nice, but not as nice as a polished manifold. but as me and kyle found out. polishing a manifold takes a LOT of work.

dude, i thought you were going to clear it?
and not to dig up an old thread but this was the final product, pay no mind to the filter, tearing out the airbox to get at things has been a hassle
