i'm in the snowbelt, so i take my rims off in the winter and clean my brakes then, then i clean and touch up everything that needs it when i put my rims back on in the spring. I didn't buy the brake paint, i just use the spray on high temp engine paint from Walmart (its like $5 a can, nice colour blue too). I spray the best i can, and spray some in a little jar to handpaint the touch up areas. I hope you paint the rotors too, they rust really quickly and look like kief otherwise.

Yea high heat paint works really well. I'm not sure if they have a high heat blue, but do a base in high heat silver then blue. Or get them powder coated, thats what I did.

My new rotors have a coat of zinc on them and they are cross drilled/ slotted what should I put on them to prevent them from rusting.

I was going to go with those cross drilled/slotted r1concepts rotors, but I don't think my car will hold out that long...on my right front the inside pad is down to the metal and the outside has 40 percent pad left...wtf??? I went to the dealer and told them to fix it and they wanted to charge me a bunch, so I am going with the top of the line Napa ceramix and the vibration damping iron whatever, and getting those installed Thursday. Congrats and post up some pix when you get everything together.

aftermarket rotors don't mix well with OEM/replacement pads. good choice with the ceramic pads. :thumb:

i think advanced auto has blue brake caliper paint.
i used the red they have. its a little too bright for me, so i have to redo it. but it holds up really well.
also, get some clearcoat. give it a few good coats of that and they stay nice and shiny.

heres another, this second one was taken at oldsmans meet last summer. The brakes were painted in may (i got the rims back on late last year, i was busy). they hold up pretty well. i went silver the year before and i didn't like them as much. I was thinking of trying a chrome engine paint this year, if its available, or do you think i should keep the blue? hope the pics help.

Sooo...has any one tried to polish their calipers??? I noticed when I did my brakes this morning that the calipers are all aluminum...
Edit: I would like to polish the aluminum part, and then that part that actually holds the pads, I would paint with red engine enamel...I really just want to know if it would be able to be done and look good, I don't know if the alloys in the aluminum change it as far as that kind of stuff is concerned???
