Hey eveyone,
This is my first posting but I have been reading on all of yours for a while now. I was just wondering if I should worry about the change oil light coming on all of a sudden. I mean I drove it, turned it off, and came back and started driving and it came on for the first time ever. I turned it off by resetting the button, but it is on my mind constantly when I am driving. It has oil, but when I parked it in the snow in the middle of my yard, there was a tiny amount of what looked like oil on the ground, I mean tiny like 5 drops from a visine container. If you have any input please let me know! Thanks

Oh yea, by the way its a 99 alero with a 2.4 in it....sedan

first, check to make sure the oil cap and filter are screwed in all the way, to make a good seal.

next, check the oil level (dipstick). if the level is alright, and the caps/filter are screwed in well, the few drops may have just been "spilled" from when you were refilling and finally made it's way to the ground.

There is the off-chance that you got some sort of leak, which is more prominent in 3400, not the 2.4. Check the simple/cheap things first before YOU blow a gasket. ;)

If your car was low in oil, the "oil pressure" light would come on, not the change oil light. The change oil light, is not activated by mileage or oil level, but by engine revolutions and engine operating temperature.
