Its time to change the transmission oil on my 2.4 automatic, but when i bought my car it didn't come with the owners manual, so i don't know how many quarts of oil to put in after i drain the old out. If anybody could please tell me i would appreciate it, thank you.

well if you're putting oil in the transmission we've got bigger issues than just how much to put in. i remember reading that somebody said you just have to feel it out.

GM uses Dextron III automatic tranny fluid.
If you put oil in it.. your screwed. Only manual tranny use gear oil or motor oil.

from COMPLETE OVERHAUL, your auto tranny capacity is about 9.5 qts. Keep in mind, just from a simple drain, you wont get all the tranny fluid out of all components. I suggest getting a tab on how much comes OUT of it when you drain it, and use that for a starting base. Personally I would do 6 qts, then add, check, repeat if necessary.
Dont forget, tranny fluid level is checked preferrably in neutral (P-brake on) while car is running at idle.
If you overfill it, IMMEDIATELY draw some out (vacuum pump or whatever), because too much fluid will do more harm than it being slightly low.
