Longer Oil Filter

well after looking a lil bit, i found the oil filter that is longer and fits our cars.

i remember maybe 1 or 2 people had them, but i think it was Jon or somethign and he forgot the part number.

well the oil filter goes to a 4.3L V6 4x4 not the 4x2 (that uses the one we have)

dunno why, but thats what it said, there were 2 different part numbers.

for mobil 1 filter at autozone the number was M1-201 (ours is M1-101)

i changed my oil earlier and it fit perfectly, no problems, i poured some oil in the filter first cause this filter is double the length.

ACDelco PF52 is the longer filter also.

My 1990 chev 3/4 4x4 with a 350, calls for the same filter as the Alero with the 3400. FRAM p/n 3387. On both of them I use the FRAM 3980.

The thoery is the larger filter has more filtering capacity, so you can use a bit more oil.....and more lubrication is always a good thing.

ive been using the k&n oversized filter for quite some time now with mobil 1, the oil seems to be cleaner when i change it out after about 7k too. i reccomend them to everyone.

Yeah I believe there is a longer filter that can fit the 3.4l Alero. I used to work at Valvoline instant oil change and the regular filter was a VO16. But the filter used on 4.6l S10's, Blazers, and jimmys would fit the 3.4. I never tried it though. But it would make sense if you put a longer filter on it could possibly benefit the car but im not 100% sure.

Hey guys, its my first post. I used to work at a valvoline instant oil change myself and i saw that the Vo55 fit 3.4's perfectly, takes a little less than half quart more tho.

Guys do u really think, this half quart of oil, does any big difference?

If perhaps make it possible to add 3 or 4 litre, then it contribute to a smooth running engine.

But the main achieve would be that the engine would stay longer time cold, and wouldn't reach higher temps.
Because the added amount of oil cools down longer before it reaches the hot parts of the engine again.

Thats why sportscars like Porsche's have oil pans cappable of 14 Litre

I think falloutboy means that it isn't enough to add any extra cooling and the half quart (don't even think it's that) don't mean squat. I do it cause I want the extra filter area. My 4x4 doesn't seem right putting this little tiny filter on it (same as 3.4l alero).
