OK so I didn't want to say anything about this track day, but even though 1WhiteOSV's car is no more, I did get to wondering what mine will do with the new tranny and PCM installed
8th run of the day, lost traction and didn't bother killing it down the track
15.757 @ 82.10
I won't even waste your time posting that slip
Let's get to the good stuff, remember, no spray, no turbo, no s/c, all motor

Now WTF happened here?
I went to lauch and almost went to the 2nd amber. I should have done it anyway, T&T doesn't matter, plus I don't know what RPM I launched at.
I think it was 2000 which is too high. Plus I chipped the tires here too.
Can I claim Fastest with this run? Fastest without any power adders?
14.539 @ 91.94 :dance1: :notworthy:

The 14.68 run was a funny one actually.
I raced a worked up 90 Beretta and he beat me first time out, it was the run that I ran a 14.763 and he ran a 14.664 I pulled him off the line but he caught up, if my r/t was better I would have beat him, proving that r/t wins races sometimes.
Anyway, I run up against him again, I jumped out of the hole with a standard r/t for me .066 (less than .100)
He had a stick and when I pulled on him, he panicked and tried to peadle to catch up to me but gave aup at the 1/8 mile. I stopped to get my slip and he flew past me and didn't enev bother to get my slip.
I said to the woman giving out the slips, "he's pissed because I beat him" She siad "He'll get over it" in fact he wouldn't race until I left
Would have been a nice bracket race, actullay I would have had a lot of nice brackets today

I lauched at 1500 rpms which is easier on the tranny, but the 14.62 I lauched at 1250 and it was better than my 14.68 which was a 2000 launch. I think the 14.5 was a 1000 launch

Ken,
1) Your lights STILL suck!
2) I've told you before about not launching too high against the convertor. With automatics you NEVER want to launch at or above your stall speed. You want to leave at least 200-500 RPM margin between your stall speed and your actual launch RPM. That is why your lower RPM launches proved to be quicker.
3) Nice job. :thumb:

The first one, I couldn't see the tree. The sun was right on it. :shout:
No racing for 3 months, hurt. I don't like getting higher than .100 on the tree, but the .066 was pretty sweet
But on you're orginal comment, I know :emotlol:

Nice runs man. I want to build my 2.2L up without any forced induction. It appears to be possible to pull 300+ hp out of it but it will cost about the same as putting forced induction. slow as it goes. You should look into the Ecotec engine handbook. :thumb: :thumb:

Holy poop! Was it way colder out than your 14.9xx?
If thats just your PCM, i'm guessing you felt a big difference when you put it in? Or did this suprise you?
Very respectable times. Never thought I'd see mid 14's on an NA alero.

redog....... do u ever go to the track when its above 40 degrees? or do u just always go when its freezing outside.
u know that ur times are off by prolly .5 compared to if ur racing in NORMAL conditions.
Redog
01-27-2006, 11:42 AM
14.9 was when it was 65 degrees
SweetNLow
01-27-2006, 02:22 PM
14.5 when its 35
14.9 when its 65
15.2 when its 75...... im guessing
i dont know why ur rolling ur eyes at me...... if everyone only went to the track when u do there numbers would be scewed as well. if ur such the drag racing then u should realize just exactly why u run the times u run.

anyone wanting to get a good time why not run when the air is colder that way you don't lose hp and actually gain hp.
racing when it is 90-100 deg outside is just dumb. way too hot.
since when did acertain range of temp outside come into play in time slips. ok so if you raced at the drag strip and the air temp was not between 70-90 deg it is not really a true time. WTF. that is just stupid.

I also feel that it would be dumb to race when its hot out. Imho its pretty smart to race out when its cold that way you get better times. How can you flame someone for using common sense.

I'm of the opinion any run made in cold weather should have a statement of the temperature with the time, just as MikeSS used to do when he'd run his low 15's with his 2.2L.
