Ok guys so i know that the general consensus on "ABS /TRAC OFF" lights are fried sensors and wheel bearings.... so when i ripped mine off and gave em a spin they showed no sign of being worn out... no corrosion on the sensors... nothing... so i got a hand on one of those little handheld diagnostic things to clear codes and it didn't register that any codes were thrown... so i'm wordering if it's the computer and not the hubs? cuz if it is hubs then you'd think that i'd at least have a code to clear... but there are none thrown so it must be the computer telling me fake messages... ??????????

A good wheel bearing doesn't mean the sensor isn't damaged inside or went out. My front driver side front ABS sensor went out but the bearings were still good no noise or anything. Since our wheel hubs are sealed units, you cannot just change out the wheel bearing or the ABS sensor. If your abs sensor went out, you need to buy a whole new wheel hub. Or even if your wheel bearing went out, but abs sensor was good.. same thing you need to buy another whole unit.

Another thing why you can't clear the code on a normal obd2 code scanner. It is that those codes are from the ABS unit computer module. You need to goto the dealer or find someone with a GM tech 2 or Snap-on Scanners with the ABS module reader. So pretty much you need an abs scanner.

When my abs sensor went out, I drove straight to my auto school and got my old teacher to read the code on which hub it was. So i didn't guess hub/sensor went bad like others here do.

I hope this helps you out.

Maybe you messed up the sensors in the accident

That code will clear once the sensor is replaced. It's not a hard code. Mine went out this morning (grr). It went off after one key cycle, then came back after a few miles.
