I've just started wrenching on my own car - doing a 60,000 mi. maintenance - the truth is I can't seem to locate the doggone fuel filter! I have the 3.4 liter V6. I can see the fuel rail under the intake manifold but I just haven't been able to find that filter. Go easy on me guys.

if it's like the 2.4, it's by the gas tank in the back. check by the cross member in the back

it's back by the tank. should have a little black clip on it, which is a HUGE pain in the ass to get off(without breaking) i couldnt even get it off at all and ended up having a shop take it off

the 99's have a little plastic clip on it to where you need use a fuel line disconnect tool on it.
the 00+up have a green push in clip tab. to where all you need to do is take a screwdriver and pry open the clip and push out.

the little black clip takes a special tool (like $5 a napa) without the tool you will most likely break it like i did.
