Well after 132k I need a new motor. My 2nd intake gasket has been leaking for about 6k, and I just havent had the time/money to get it replaced. It just recently started getting hot, and losing water. So I would refil the coolant ever 3-4 days. I took it to the dealer and they said they wanted to replace the gasket. I went ahead and had them do it, and then they broke it down they found some other issues. Some messed up rods, and they said possibly a cracked block. I just am having them replace it and then I hope I can baby it through dec/jan until Feb when I will have the money to replace the whole motor.

Does anyone know where I can buy a crate motor? The dealer quoted me close to 4k for a new motor/install. I need some help here. If anyone knows where the best deal/place to buy one of these things is online let me know. This really really blows. This is my 2nd intake gasket. It was even replaced at the dealership. GM needs to f***ing replace this, along with everyone elses 3.4. This whole intake gasket problem is bullpoop and they know it is their mistake/bad design. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. :heehee:

car-part.com, I got a gagt engine with 9k for $350 and replaced it myself, total cost was maybe a max $500.....definately not $4000 though that the poopty dealers charge....

Well, parents stepped in and ordered a new crate motor through the dealership and they are also installing it there. Now i will have a 3yr 100k warranty

Now my car is almost perfect! HAHA.

ohhh jeeez =/ NEVER do the multi thousand dollar engines from the dealers, what a rip-off...
for our customers we recommend that they let us find a low mileage used motor (like that good deal on the GAGT one.. im jealous!!!) or if they want performance then an aftermarket crate one, or a rebuild.

Yeah that's pretty sweet.

I plan on swaping my motor out when this one dies

With my money, i would not even do anything to this car. I would go get the cheapest used motor as possible, get it running and keep it as my daily beater and then buy a ls1 car. But it is my parents money. They know it is getting a brand new motor, with a 3 year 100k warranty and that it will keep my and my car running for a long time. They feel happy about that and so do I. Just to let you guys know........ alero's aren't sports cars. And if i was to spend 4k on a motor, i sure as hell wouldn't do it for an alero motor. WHy, so i can run a 13 sec 1/4 mile (if that) and brag about it? Or go get a LS1 camaro and do low 13's stock, put 4k into that motor and be into the 11's! Now thats fun. (already did it once with an lt1)

^^^^ omg i love u. finally someone else on this website with some common sense. i totally agree with u man. anyone who spends money to make an alero go fast is flushing it down the toilet. just my opinion though
