well i have found that my motor likes to heat up and over heat alot, fast only takes about 1 min at a light, i have a toggle switch for my fans cause they stopped working after my rebuild, i have oversized pistons, which i assume helps to make my engine heat up the way it does, but i notice i get better rosponse and power at about just above the quarter mark on my temp guage, and my needle sits at just under or on the halfway part, is there anything i can do to keep my engine cooler i have all new coolant about 10k, and id rather not change the thermostat since its a stock 180 * , but do they make better radiators. or fans, and also i was messing with my fans once after they broke, and messed with the coolant sensor switch and i did a little electric work myself, and found out that when u mess with the coolant sensor switch it affects your transmission, in that it shifts very rough and drives horrible, i fixed it, but just wonderin how any 1 feels about a trany cooler, and stuff i need to worry about, and if the coolant and transmission are somehow linked. thanx.

did you mention rebuild?? everything should work about good as new after an engine rebuild. If something doesnt work correctly afterwards, then you got jipped- on an expensive repair.
Oh and your needle is SUPPOSED to rest around the middle line of the guage. mine is just below it on average days, on super hot ones it is just a tad over. My engine is in optimal condition. =/

uhmmm but i read oversized pistons? omg please be kidding me... that was a BAD idea. Your mech should be shot, hun.

why, i had like .020 overbore or sumthin, but ya thats where it sits, but when it over heats its between half and 3/4 but thats highest ever, but i want to keep it cooler, cause i get better performance, at about half 1/4 and 1/2, so why is the over bore so bad?

cooling questions..

Radiator custom
redline water wetter (good stuff)
doing regular oil changes and doin it synthetic (more efficiently distributes itself throughout your motor)
oil cooler (it keeps your oil cool) we use the same filter as an LS1 so that gives you a whole new place to search for parts on oil cooling....
making sure your fans are in GOOD working order

yeh it shouldnt go much over the half point, unless you are using like, ac on full blast for a long time on a very hot day.
as far as improved performance at lower temps? psshh dont worry about that =/ it will and should always stay at about the half point, rather you use some BS oil cooler, synthetic, or w/e. trust me it really doesnt make a difference.... it will only possible make a difference if you go without changing your oil for like, 10k miles, which you should never do, lol.
but i do worry about your engine rebuild not being done properly and probs with your fans...shops should ALWAYS warrantee those, so try to get that fixed =/
you could get a CAI. always great for cooler and more efficient intake of air....

like spy said a radiator would be custom. i tried getting becool to do something for us but it was a no go.

you can do an oil cooler

i would also recommend a tranny cooler.

im still confussed why a slight over bore is a bad thing?

.02 really isn't. you didn't remove that much to cause an extremely faster heat build up. basically if you went say .04 than yea too much. because the heat would be hotter at the waterjacks around the clyinder and the coolant could not disapate the heat fast enough. the extra material in the bore slows the transfer rate to the coolant. we are not talking a lot but in high tempsa little helps.
